The Sports Complex serves as the central hub for athletics, recreation and fitness at the University. The Complex contains a variety of facilities to meet the needs of the student body and the University of the District of Columbia athletic programs. Students, faculty, and staff may utilize the amenities of a large and modern gymnasium, swimming pool with diving well, state-of-the art Weight and Fitness Center, five tennis courts, regulation size soccer field, dance studio, racquetball courts, and meeting facilities.
The gymnasium currently seats 3,500. In addition to being home court for the men's and women's basket ball teams, it also serves as home court for the women's volleyball team and is utilized for physical education classes.
Natatorium (Aquatic Center)
The Sports Complex houses a newly renovated Natatorium that contains a six lane pool built for NCAA competition, a diving well, a spectator area, and locker rooms.
Weight and Fitness Center
The Weight and Fitness Center is a state of the art facility located in the Sports Complex. It provides the opportunity for students, faculty, staff and the community to lift weights and exercise indoors.
The lighted tennis facility is home to the Firebirds men's and women's tennis teams who currently compete in the East Coast Conference (ECC). The tennis facility houses five courts and is available to faculty, staff, students, and other members of the University community as well.
The dance studio serves to complement the studios in the Fine Arts Building by enabling non-dance majors and the community to have immediate access to an appropriate facility for a variety of activities including, yoga, aerobics, dance, and other cardiovascular activities.
Three regulation size racquetball courts are available for students, faculty and staff.
The recently renovated soccer field serves as the home for the University's Men's Soccer Team. The soccer field is a natural grass surface.
