Washington, DC - Four goals and one assist from Senior midfielder, Tyler Mace, 8 caused turnovers and the edge on extra man opportunities was not enough for the Firebirds who fell to CACC rival, Chestnut Hill 16-12 on what turned out to be a beautiful Saturday afternoon on February 16, 2019 at the UDC Sports Complex field.
Both teams were even at the faceoff with 15 each, and the score tight in the first three quarters with UDC leading 3-2 at the end of the lst, down by 1 goal at the half, down by 2 at the end of the 3rd. however the Griffins outshot the Firebirds 53 – 35 and sealed the win.
"We have a tight team this year with great senior leadership. Keeping a level head by the older players is needed to impact younger players we are relying on like freshmen Jeffrey Vo and Jabob Saunders", reflected Head Coach Rodger Colbert.
With the February 20th and 23rd contests postponed due to weather conditions, the Firebirds will seek their first win on Wednesday, February 27th when they travel to Wilmington. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
