Reich and Gajdusek Receive Top Men’s Tennis Awards
Washington, DC: April 27, 2011- Junior Business Management major and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native Bruno Reich was, today, awarded the MVP of the University of the District of Columbia Men's Tennis Team for the 2010- 2011 year, while Junior Tomas Gajdusek (Finance- Prague, Czech Republic) received the Coaches Award.
Reich, who was also named to the 1st Team East Coast Conference (ECC), and twice named ECC Rookie of the Week, finished the year with a 13-1 overall singles record and 9-5 overall in doubles competition.
In announcing the selection of Reich for the MVP Award, Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach T. Richard Mahaffey said, "Reich had only one loss in singles competition and was an outstanding competitor."
Gajdusek was also named to the 1st Team East Coast Conference this year. He was previously named the 2010 East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year, as voted on by the league's coaches. Coach Mahaffey described Gajdusek as "a strong leader, competitor and teammate." He finished the season with a 13-4 overall singles record and 10-6 overall in doubles competition.
