Grabovac Earns 2nd Straight ECC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week Honor
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Senior Aleksandar Grabovac (Psychology – Ljubljana, Slovenia/Gimnazija Euro Sola Ljubljana) of the University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week for his performances in the week ending Sunday, March 24th. This was his second straight week of receiving the ECC Player of the Week honor.
Grabovac earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the No. 1 singles spot over Lorenzo Rossi of Division I Marist College. In the lone doubles win that day for the Firebirds, Grabovac teamed up with Simon Andersson (Business Management – Ystad, Sweden/Sydskanska Gymnasiet) to defeat the doubles team of Billy Bishop and Dalen Klassen 8-6 in a back-and-forth battle at the No. 1 spot. Also, later in the week against Chestnut Hill, Grabovac cruised to two more wins. He won the No. 1 singles match against Mike Humes of Chestnut Hill in come-from-behind fashion, 0-6, 6-3, 6-0. He also contributed to the No. 1 doubles victory partnered with Andersson. The two posted a convincing 8-3 victory over Yoaann Pham and Stephen Say.
Grabovac and the Firebirds will travel to play Georgetown University on Tuesday, March 26th at 2 p.m.
