Women’s Basketball Team Volunteers at Local Food & Friends

WASHINGTON, DC - The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team completed its second community service event of the semester on Friday, October 12th as they volunteered at a local Food & Friends establishment in Washington, D.C.

The team has been volunteering with Food & Friends annually since the 2007-2008 season, helping out with everything from packaging meals for delivery, to unloading and sorting canned goods and food items for the kitchen.

"Every year the experience is a very fulfilling one, with the girls assisting in the preparation of hundreds of meals on each yearly visit," assistant women's basketball coach Robin Williams said.  "The girls truly enjoy volunteering at Food & Friends because of the company's cause and the satisfaction of using teamwork to help feed families in need."
