Firebirds Fall in Exhibition Game at Division I Temple

PHILADELPHIA – The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team was defeated by Division I Temple University in a preseason exhibition contest at McGonigle Hall on Saturday night.

Freshman guard Bianca White led the Firebirds with six points, while senior guard Shantrel Oliver pitched in with five points, a team-high four rebounds and one assist.

Temple, picked to finish 2nd in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll, was led by preseason First Team All-Conference selection Alliya Butts' game-high 18 points scored. Meanwhile, 6'0 junior guard Donnaizha Fountain registered a double-double of 13 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.

The Firebirds will open their season on Saturday, November 12th against Division II East Region foe Southern New Hampshire University.
