UDC Women’s Basketball’s Daeja Quick Earns East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week

WEST BABYLON, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Daeja Quick was named East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Week 1 Rookie of the Week for her performance in the week ending November 12th.

Quick helped the Firebirds (1-1) split games last weekend at the University of Bridgeport's Conference Crossover tournament between the ECC and the Northeast 10. In two games, she averaged 14.5 points while shooting 47-percent (9-of-19) from the field and 33-percent (2-for-6) from three-point range. She was also outstanding defensively with seven steals.

The Pittsburgh, PA native shot 4-for-7 from the field (2-for-4 from long range) and 2-for-3 at the foul line to finish with 12 points and one steal in UDC's season-opening win vs. Southern Connecticut State on Saturday. Then, the next day vs. St. Michael's, she registered 17 points on 5-of-12 from the field and 7-of-12 FT shooting, and she collected a game-high six steals.

Quick and the Firebirds will host their season home opener on Wednesday, November 15th vs. Post University at 6 p.m.
