UDC’s Daeja Quick Earns 3rd East Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honor

WEST BABYLON, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Daeja Quick has earned her 3rd East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week honor for her performance in the week ending December 3rd.

 

Quick averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per-game in two games for the Firebirds. She shot 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from the field, 40 percent (6-of-15) from three-point range and 100 percent (8-of-8) from the foul line.

 

The Pittsburgh, PA native registered 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Firebirds' loss to No. 10 ranked Virginia Union on Wednesday, November 29th, and then erupted for a season-high 27 points to go with five assists, three rebounds and three steals in a narrow UDC loss to Molloy in the ECC opener on Saturday, December 2nd. Against Molloy, she shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line.

 

Quick, a freshman guard, is currently 4th in the ECC in scoring (16.0 ppg), 3rd in steals (20), and 5th in assists (22). She has scored in double-figures and handed out at least one assist in six of seven games, and she has grabbed at least one steal in all seven games this season.

 

Quick and the Firebirds (2-5, 0-1 ECC) are on the road tonight vs. cross town rival Bowie St. at 5:30 p.m.
