BRIDGEPORT, CT- The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team was defeated by the East Coast Conference Bridgeport Lady Knights 77-61 on Wednesday evening at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium
The Firebirds tipped off in their rematch against the Purple Knights in Bridgeport Connecticut. The lady Knights were coming off a one-win streak and grasping another win tonight against the lady Firebirds. UDC (3-21, 1-13 ECC) put up 11 points in the first quarter but was not enough to keep up with the lady Knight's blazing 22 points. UDC showed up in the second quarter putting up 21 points on the lady nights, by the second half both teams fought hard but the Purple Knights outlasted the lady Firebirds 77-61. UDC was led by Freshman Daeja Quick with 12 points, Sophomore Sara Hare contributed with 10 points and Sophomore Tyra Coombs also had 10 points.
The Lady Knights had some notable performances by Samnell Vonleh with 15 points, Kayla Hill with 14 points Brionna Stoddart with 13 points.
The Firebirds will be hosting their next ECC opponent Mercy College in the Masonic Classic on Saturday, February 10th at 3pm.
