ARLINGTON, VA – The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team was defeated, 8-1 by East Coast Conference reigning champion, NYIT on Friday afternoon in a match moved indoors to Arlington YMCA due to rain.

The Firebirds' lone win of the afternoon came at No. 1 doubles where junior Dominika Hadnadova and junior Alena Skobkina teamed up for an impressive, 8-4 victory over NYIT's Gabriela Siembab and Karolina Pondusova.

Skobkina battled in her No. 2 singles match but was ultimately outlasted, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 10-8 by Pondusova for her first loss of the season in dual match play.

UDC (4-2, 4-2 ECC) will complete its regular season fall schedule with a home match tomorrow vs. league foe LIU Post.
