Track & Field Coaches’ Award Goes to Latoya Allen

Washington, DC- April 10, 2011- The University of the District of Columbia Department of Intercollegiate Athletics presented the Track & Field Team Coaches' Award to junior Latoya Allen (Social Work-Washington, DC) during its Annual Athletic Awards Banquet on April 10, at Maggiano's in Washington. 

Allen, an All-American member of the Track Team, was presented the award by Head Cross-Country/Track & Field Coach Alton Mckenzie. In making the presentation Coach McKenzie described Ms. Allen as "a quiet leader in and outside of the classroom. With a 4.0 GPA in the fall, she has been a great example of what a student-athlete should embody. For never complaining (but intelligently questioning directions given), and doing what is asked of her, this All-American made it a no-brainer in selecting her as my Coach's Award winner.  I look forward to her continuing to be a leader on this team."

Ms. Allen became an All-American track athlete at the 2009 USTFCCCA Division II Indoor Track and Field Meet as a member of the UDC  4x400 Meter Relay Team.
