Erica Nixon Named to USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic Team

New Orleans, LA: July 6, 2009--  Erica Nixon, a sophomore sprinter for the University of the District of Columbia Women’s Track and Field Team has been named to the 2009 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II All-Academic Track & Field Team. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team , the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division II Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.

Nixon is a two-time Track and Field All- American. As a member of University’s Indoor Track & Field Team, she competed in the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships and achieved All-American status as result of the Team’s performance in the 4x400 meter relay.

During the2009 out door track season, she competed as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team and also qualified for the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Erica received her second All-American designation as a result of her performance in the NCAA Championships.

A biology major, she is a native of the Bronx, New York and the daughter of Eric and Effie Nixon. She is a 2007 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School where she also excelled in track and field.
