Volleyball Season Gets Underway, August 29

Washington, DC—The 2008 Lady Firebirds Volleyball Season begins August 29, when they play in the Shepherd University “Ram Rumble Tournament” in Shepherdsville, West Virginia. The three-day Tournament will feature four colleges competing for the championship.

The team lost some players from last year due to graduation and transfers, but most of the team will return to try and improve on last season’s 8-15 record, which was caused by the loss of their head coach at the start of the season. A new head coach is expected to be appointed before the start of the new season. Meanwhile, Chris Defelice continues to serve as the acting head coach.
