UDC Women's Volleyball Youth Day A Tremendous Success

Washington DC – The UDC Women's Volleyball Team hosted a youth day today.  The event was a tremendous success as over 30 area high school and middle school volleyball players came to the UDC GYM to participate.

UDC Head Coach Sheila Weaver welcomed the campers and introduced the UDC team.  From 11:30 am – 12:30 pm the UDC Coach Weaver and the Women's Volleyball Team hosted a skills clinic.  The clinic focused on hitting, serving, setting, and digging.  The UDC players worked with small groups to teach the game to the eager high school and middle school players.  The clinic finished with a group photo of the UDC players, campers, Coach Weaver, and UDC Director of Athletics, Patricia Thomas.

After the clinic the campers were able to receive autographs from the UDC Team members, which was a thrill for both the campers and the players.  The campers were also able to take pictures with the UDC Firebird Mascot.

After the autograph session, the campers were able to enjoy some fun music and view both UDC and NYIT warm-ups.  At 2:00 UDC took on NYIT in an East Coast Conference (ECC) Matchup.

UDC Head Coach Sheila Weaver had this to say about today's Volleyball Youth Day. "It was great having so many young players from the community at our youth day today!  I think we were able to teach the kids some things, while at the same time having a lot of fun.  UDC and our Volleyball Program are committed to working with the community, and today's Youth Day is just one example of how we are trying to make that happen.  I think today was a great success, and we look forward to doing it again next year."
