District of Columbia Women’s Volleyball Falls To East Coast Conference Foe Dowling College in Three Sets
Washington, DC – The University of the District of Columbia Women's Volleyball Team took on East Coast Conference (ECC) leader Dowling College. The Golden Lions proved to be too powerful, overwhelming the Firebirds in three straight sets, 3-0. With the win, the Golden Lions remain on top of the ECC with a 23-4 record (10-1 in the ECC). With the loss, the Firebirds fall to 11-21 (2-11 in the conference).
The first set was well contested by both teams, but Dowling pulled away to win 24-16. The second game, Dowling showed why they are the #1 team in the conference. The Golden Lions jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, winning 25-9. The third set was close early, with Dowling up by only one at 9-8. The Golden Lions were able once again showed their prowess, however, winning 25 – 14.
The Firebirds take on Mercy College on Saturday at 2:00 in the last game of the season.
