UDC Athletics Welcomes Zachary Chavet as Athletic Trainer

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Zachary Chavet as the department's newest athletic trainer.

Chavet joins the Firebirds after serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at Pomona High School in Pomona, California, where he managed the healthcare needs of student-athletes across multiple sports as the school's sole full-time athletic trainer. Prior to that role, he gained valuable clinical experience through athletic training rotations at Mesa Community College and Cathedral Catholic High School while completing his undergraduate studies.

A certified athletic trainer since 2022, Chavet earned his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University and recently completed a Master's degree in Athletic Training at A.T. Still University.

Growing up in Shanghai, China, Chavet brings a unique global perspective to UDC Athletics. His volunteer experiences include working with migrant schools in Shanghai, a school for AIDS orphans in Malawi, and Habitat for Humanity projects in Nepal and Cambodia.

The University of the District of Columbia Athletics Department welcomes Zachary Chavet to the Firebird family and is confident he will be a tremendous addition to the sports medicine staff.
