The Firebirds head into this conference match up, coming off a tough 97-79 win against D'Youville University. They were led by Eric Morgan Jr who posted a game high 22 points, Hartnel Haye who had a season high 20 points and Juanye Colon who came off the bench to add 18 points off of six 3-pointers. Haye was named to this week's honor roll for his performance against D'Youville. Michael Aiken rankes fifth in the conference with 15.4 PPG and is second in 3-point shooting. Jahmir Marable-Williams leads the conference with 6.4 assists per game and is second with 2.2 steals per game. Micah Campbell, who was named Defensive Player of the week earlier on this season, is second in the conference with 8.8 RPG and ranks fourth in the conference with 1.9 blocks per game. He also leads in FG %, shooting the ball at 56.8% . UDC is currently 4-9 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. They opened up conference play with a close tough loss to nationally ranked St Thomas Aquinas College 78-83 at the end of November. UDC entered the 2022-23 season voted to place fourth in the ECC preseason poll. They finished 9-20 last season and made a first round post season appearance in the conference tournament.
Scouting Molloy
The Lions are currently second in conference standings with a 4-1 record. They defeated preseason favorites Daemen University back in December to open up conference play. Since then they have defeated D'Youville and Queens and split a pair with Roberts Wesleyan. Darren Fergus currently leads the ECC with 19.9 PPG and also pulls down 7.1 RPG. Molloy was voted to place 3rd in the ECC preseason poll after finishing 12-17, 10-8 last season. William Muller was also voted the preseason player of the year. Muller is currently 5th in the conference pulling down 7.8 rebounds per game.
History
The last time these two teams met was on March 28th, 2022 in the ECC tournament quarterfinals where Molloy knocked off the Firebirds 76-69 . The all-time meeting record between these two teams is 13-7 in favor of the Lions.
