Gene Anderson Earns Third Straight ECC Rookie of the Week

Washington, DC- Gene Anderson was named the ECC Rookie of the Week for the third straight week. Staten also earned a spot on the honor roll.

Anderson averaged 10.5 rebounds per game, 9.0 points per game, and 4.0 blocks per game in a 1-1 week for the Firebirds. In the 80-67 win over Cheyney, the now three-time ECC Rookie of the Week posted a double-double on 12 rebounds and 12 points while making six blocks. In the 82-70 loss to Bloomfield, Anderson added nine rebounds, six points, and two blocks. 

Staten averaged 19.5 points per game, 5.5 assists per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, and 4.0 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Firebirds. In the win over Cheyney, Staten posted a game-high 24 points, shooting 50.0 percent from the field with six assists and seven steals. In the loss to Bloomfield, Staten led UCD with 15 points, five assists, and five rebounds.
