Firebirds pull away late to secure 74–66 win over Livingstone

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team earned a 74–66 home victory over Livingstone on Tuesday evening at the EB Henderson Sports Complex, closing the night with strong defense and timely scoring down the stretch.

UDC built a five-point lead at halftime and maintained control in the second half by converting 21-of-26 free throws and winning the rebounding battle, finishing with a 42–32 advantage on the glass.

Kevon Corley provided a spark off the bench, pouring in a game-high 17 points while going 8-for-9 from the free-throw line. Ty Williams followed with 14 points, five assists, and six steals, while Oliver Spence added 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals in 12 minutes of action. Rejuan Gray chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds.

Livingstone was led by Jacob Hunkins, who finished with 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, but the Firebirds' defensive pressure forced 20 turnovers and limited the visitors' late comeback chances.

UDC returns to action next Thursday, traveling to Chestnut Hill for a non-conference matchup scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
