Spence Named ECC Rookie of the Week; Roache Earns Honor Roll Recognition
Washington, D.C. — The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team earned weekly recognition from the East Coast Conference, as Oliver Spence was named ECC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season and Arthur Roache was selected to the ECC Honor Roll following strong performances in conference play.
Spence continued his impressive freshman campaign with a standout 1–1 week, averaging 18.5 points per game on an efficient 60 percent shooting from the field. He also contributed 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, providing a consistent presence in the paint.
The freshman center led the Firebirds in their victory over Staten Island, pouring in 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while adding five rebounds, three blocks, and a steal. His efficiency and interior dominance were instrumental in securing the conference win and highlight his continued growth as one of the league's top newcomers.
Roache earned Honor Roll recognition after averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game during the week. He led UDC with 22 points in the matchup against Molloy, showcasing his scoring versatility and leadership on both ends of the floor.
