Spence’s 26-Rebound Night Powers Firebirds Past Molloy, 93–87

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Behind a monster double-double from Oliver Spence and balanced scoring across the lineup, the University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team earned a statement 93–87 road victory over Molloy at Bob Houlihan Gymnasium.

UDC (5-18, 4-11 ECC) jumped out to a strong start, taking a 48–40 lead into halftime before holding off a second-half push from the Lions (8-17, 8-7 ECC). The Firebirds shot 44.6 percent from the field and controlled the glass, outrebounding Molloy 54–39.

Spence delivered one of the most dominant rebounding performances in program history, finishing with 24 points and an incredible 26 rebounds, including 12 offensive boards. His presence inside set the tone on both ends of the floor and provided second-chance opportunities throughout the night.

Michael Harrell added 23 points on an efficient 9-of-16 shooting effort, while Rejuan Gray and Arthur Roache each contributed 14 points. Roache also added nine rebounds and four assists, helping steady the Firebirds in key stretches.

UDC's depth also made an impact, with contributions from David Pope and Kevon Corley off the bench. Corley knocked down a pair of three-pointers as the Firebirds shot 45.5 percent from beyond the arc (5-of-11).

Molloy placed five players in double figures, including Chase Timberlake and Dylan Kopp with 21 points each, but UDC's rebounding advantage and timely scoring down the stretch proved decisive.

The Firebirds finished with 15 assists, 10 steals, and 19 offensive rebounds in a complete team effort.

The Firebirds are back at home on Saturday for a senior day match up against Queens College.
