Spence Earns Third ECC Rookie of the Week Honor; Harrell Named to Honor Roll

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team was recognized in the East Coast Conference's final weekly report of the regular season, as Oliver Spence was named ECC Rookie of the Week and Michael Harrell earned a spot on the Honor Roll.

Spence secures his third Rookie of the Week honor this season after another dominant stretch to close out the regular season. In a 2-0 week for the Firebirds, Spence averaged 16.0 rebounds and 14.5 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field, anchoring UDC on both ends of the floor. In the road win over Molloy, Spence delivered one of the most dominant performances in recent program history, recording a monster 26-rebound, 24-point double-double. He led the entire game in both points and rebounds while playing all 40 minutes, controlling the paint offensively and defensively. His 26 rebounds included a commanding presence on the offensive glass, creating multiple second-chance opportunities that shifted momentum in UDC's favor. In the win over Queens he shot 50% from the floor, pulled 6 rebounds and a block.

Harrell also received conference recognition, earning a place on the ECC Honor Roll following a strong week of all-around production. He averaged 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.0 assists per game, in a 2-0 week for UDC. In the road win over Molloy, Harrell poured in 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting, adding four rebounds and four steals in a complete performance that helped secure the 93–87 victory. He followed that effort with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting in the Senior Day win over Queens, while contributing six rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.
