Firebirds Struggle Against Roberts Wesleyan in ECC Opener

ROCHESTER, NY – The University of the District of Columbia men's lacrosse team faced a tough battle on the road against Roberts Wesleyan, falling 23-3 in East Coast Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a valiant effort, the Firebirds (0-5, 0-2 ECC) were unable to contain the offensive firepower of the Redhawks (4-3, 2-0 ECC), who dominated from the start. Julian Schemm provided an early spark for UDC, netting the team's first goal in the opening quarter. Joshua Copeland and Jahi Guise added goals later in the contest, but the Firebirds were unable to slow down Roberts Wesleyan's relentless attack.

Defensively, goalkeeper Israel Amajioyi faced a barrage of 39 shots on goal and made 16 saves in the contest. UDC fought hard on ground balls, with Patrick Nyarko and Aiden O'Brien each contributing multiple pickups.
