O’Brien Scores Twice for Firebirds in ECC Matchup with D’Youville

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia men's lacrosse team fell to D'Youville University, 19–3, on Saturday afternoon in their East Coast Conference opener at the UDC Turf Field.

The Saints jumped out to an early lead, scoring three goals in the opening quarter before a nine-goal second quarter allowed them to take a 12–1 advantage into halftime.

UDC got on the scoreboard late in the second period when Kalam Howlett scored the Firebirds' first goal of the afternoon.

The Firebirds continued to push offensively in the third quarter as Aiden O'Brien tallied two goals, including a man-up score. Adam Zima recorded the assist on O'Brien's first goal of the game.

Goalkeeper Israel Amajioyi made 14 saves while facing a high volume of shots over the full 60 minutes of play.

UDC also collected 37 ground balls as a team, with Myles Henry leading the Firebirds with six.

The Firebirds will return to action on Wednesday when they host Caldwell University in a non-conference matchup.
