Firebirds Fall 3–0 on the Road to St. Thomas Aquinas

SPARKILL, N.Y. – The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team dropped its East Coast Conference road contest against St. Thomas Aquinas, falling 3–0 Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.

The Spartans struck early as Joaquim Cardoso converted in the 7th minute off an assist from Mika Leue to put STAC ahead 1–0. Despite a few first-half chances, the Firebirds entered halftime trailing by one.

In the second half, STAC extended its lead behind goals from Jorge De La Vibora (61') and Kevon Evans (68'), sealing the 3–0 result.

UDC's best chances came from David Serra, Isaiah Daniel, Tsega Kebede, and Joao De Souza De Aquino, who each recorded a shot on goal, but the Firebirds could not find the back of the net.

Graduate goalkeeper Sergio Becerra faced a heavy offensive attack, making five saves on eight shots on goal.

The Firebirds (3-2-1, 0-1-1 ECC) continue coference play at home with a matchup aginst the preseason favorites Queens College on Wednesday, October 1.
