UDC Men’s Tennis Slightly Edged by Harford CC; Falls in Season Opener 4-3
WASHINGTON, D.C.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team fell to Harford CC 4-3, in their spring season opener.
UDC earned the doubles match after taking wins at No.1 and 2. Louis Mangeon and Juan Estevez Hernandez got things rolling defeating their opponent 6-3, at No.1 and Maksim Bahdanovich and Mauricio Corty defeated their opponents 6-4 at No.2 to secure the doubles point.
The Firebirds went on to concede two singles points at No. 5 and 6 but Corty would even the game out with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No.3. Mangeon then came through with the win at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over his opponent to give UDC the 3-2 lead.
After a hard-fought battle at No.2 Hernandez ended up conceding 6-3, 7-6(3). The winning point came down to the final match at No. 4. Bahdanovich took the first set with a 6-4 score but went on to lose the second and third sets 6-3, 6-3.
UDC (2-3, 0-0 ECC) will head to Syracuse, N.Y. on the 26th to face off against Le Moyne College. Tip-off is set for 1:00 pm.
