UDC Men’s Tennis Secures 5-2 Victory Over Millersville University
Washington, D.C. - The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team improved to 1-0 on the season with a 5-2 win over Millersville University on Saturday. Despite dropping two of the three doubles matches, the Firebirds dominated singles play, claiming five of the six singles matches to secure the victory.
Doubles:
- In the No. 1 doubles match, Lino Morin and Sebastian Castro (Millersville) defeated UDC's top pair, Louka Queguiner and Filippo Vatteroni, 6-1.
- UDC's Sebastiano Palma and Elouan Queguiner battled hard to win the No. 2 doubles match against Jasper de Koning and Paul Bagnolus (Millersville) in a tiebreaker, 7-6(6), securing a critical doubles point.
- In the No. 3 doubles match, Victor Suarez and Sandor Oetliker (Millersville) bested UDC's duo, Oskar Karos and Ghali Ouajahat Filali, 6-3.
Singles:
- Louka Queguiner led UDC in singles play, defeating Lino Morin in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, in the top singles spot.
- Sebastiano Palma followed up with a strong 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jasper de Koning in the No. 2 singles match.
- Elouan Queguiner dominated his opponent, Sandor Wulf, with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 4 singles match.
- Filippo Vatteroni clinched the victory for the Firebirds, overcoming Sebastian Castro 6-0, 7-5 in the No. 5 singles match.
- Oskar Karos capped off the victory for UDC with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Paul Bagnolus in the No. 6 singles match.
- Millersville's Victor Suarez claimed the only singles win for his team, defeating UDC's Ghali Ouajahat Filali 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles match.
