Firebirds Fall to Jefferson in Regional Action
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team fell to Jefferson University, 7–0, in non-conference play.
Jefferson secured the doubles point with wins at all three positions to take an early lead. The Firebirds' pairing of Elouan Queguiner and Ignacio Lopez Fernandez competed at the No. 1 spot, while Filippo Vatteroni and Ambrose Evamy represented UDC at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, UDC battled across the lineup, highlighted by a competitive match at the No. 2 position where Ambrose Evamy rebounded from a first-set loss to take the opening set before ultimately falling in a third-set super tiebreak.
At the top of the lineup, Elouan Queguiner put together a strong effort in a 6-4, 6-4 contest at No. 1 singles, while the Firebirds continued to compete despite the final score.
The Firebirds return to action on Friday as they take on St. Thomas Aquinas in conference play.
