Firebirds Fall to No. 50 St. Thomas Aquinas in ECC Semifinal
FLUSHING, N.Y. – The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team saw its season come to a close with a 4-0 loss to No. 50 St. Thomas Aquinas in the East Coast Conference Semifinal at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Facing a nationally ranked opponent, the Firebirds battled throughout the lineup in both doubles and singles play. St. Thomas Aquinas secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 position and by default at No. 3, while the No. 1 doubles match went unfinished.
In singles action, several matches remained competitive before being halted. At No. 1, Sebastiano Palma was in the midst of a tight contest, trailing 6-4, 4-0 before the match was stopped. Elouan Queguiner also competed at the No. 2 position, while Filippo Vatteroni was engaged in a back-and-forth match at No. 4 before play concluded.
Ambrose Evamy and Ignacio Lopez Fernandez competed at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots, respectively, as the Spartans secured the necessary points to clinch the match.
UDC concludes its 2026 campaign.
