Women's Basketball Falls in Road Contest to Virginia Union

Richmond, VA - The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team faced a tough road contest against Virginia Union University, falling 90-64 on Saturday afternoon at Barco-Stevens Hall.

Virginia Union came out strong, building a commanding 31-14 lead in the first quarter. UDC managed to steady the ship in the second half, but Virginia Union's balanced scoring and control of the boards proved too much for the Firebirds to handle. Plagued by 28 turnovers, the Panthers captalized scoring 26 points off said turnovers.

Laci Johnson matched her career-high and led UDC with 23 points, shooting 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, while Tania Hill packed the stat sheet posting a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks. However, Virginia Union's Nevaeh Reaves and Taniyah Greene spearheaded the Trojans' attack, combining for 41 points.
