Firebirds Fall to Wildcats in Conference Match Up

Washington, D.C. -The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team suffered a 79-64 defeat to Daemen University on Sunday afternoon at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex. The Firebirds fall to 1-1 in conference play while the Wildcats improve to 2-0.

Daemen opened the game with a commanding 25-13 lead after the first quarter, utilizing strong three-point shooting to gain an early advantage. While UDC fought back with a strong third quarter, outscoring Daemen 21-12, the Wildcats pulled away in the fourth to secure the win.

Tori Williams led the Firebirds with a season and game-high 20 points. Kensley Benjamin added 17 points off the bench for the Firebirds, including 5-of-9 free throws, while Nia Ford contributed 12 points. Daemen's Claire Pikett led the Wildcats with 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Danielle DiCintio chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds.
