Firebirds Roll Past St. Thomas Aquinas for Conference Road Win

SPARKILL, N.Y. – The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team turned in a dominant performance on Saturday evening, earning an 80–51 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College at Aquinas Hall in East Coast Conference action. With the victory, UDC completed a season series sweep of St. Thomas Aquinas

The Firebirds (6-11, 2-5 ECC) controlled the game from start to finish, leading 19–14 after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 38–23 at halftime. UDC continued to apply pressure in the second half, outscoring the Spartans 42–28 over the final two quarters to secure the road win.

Aiyana Ellis led the Firebirds with 18 points, adding six rebounds, two assists, and two steals in a strong all-around effort. LeAsia Todd followed with an efficient performance, finishing with 11 points, five rebounds, three blocks, and two steals, providing a strong presence in the paint.

Dashani Coleman contributed 13 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Maya Johnson added 14 points off the bench, shooting 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. Aliyah Eason also finished with 11 points, giving the Firebirds balanced scoring throughout the lineup.

The Firebirds shot 43.5 percent from the field and connected on 45.0 percent from three-point range, while outrebounding St. Thomas Aquinas 41–30. Defensively, UDC forced 20 turnovers and recorded eight steals and four blocks, limiting the Spartans' offensive opportunities.

The Firebirds return to the EB Henderson Sports Complex Wednesday to host Roberts Wesleyan in East Coast Conference action at 5:30 p.m.
