Ellis Named ECC Defensive Player of the Week; Eason Earns Honor Roll Selection

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball program earned multiple conference recognitions in the East Coast Conference's final weekly report of the regular season, as Aiyana Ellis was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week and Aliyah Eason secured her third consecutive Honor Roll selection.

Ellis continues to anchor the Firebirds on the defensive end, earning her second Defensive Player of the Week honor this season. She has now collected four major weekly awards this year, including two Player of the Week honors, two Defensive Player of the Week recognitions, and multiple Honor Roll selections.

Ellis averaged 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 assists per game, anchoring UDC defensively while maintaining strong offensive production. In the matchup against Molloy, Ellis was a defensive force, recording six blocks, four steals, and eight rebounds — seven of which came on the defensive end. Her rim protection and ability to disrupt passing lanes consistently altered possessions and limited scoring opportunities. She followed that performance with a complete effort in the win over Queens, pouring in a season-high 25 points while adding eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Her defensive presence helped hold Queens to just 43 total points, setting the tone for a dominant team effort.

Eason also continues to shine, earning her third straight appearance on the ECC Honor Roll. She averaged 17.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, in a 1-1 week for the Firebirds. In the matchup against Molloy, Eason came off the bench to lead the team with 20 points, adding four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block in a complete all-around effort. She followed that performance with 14 points, one assist, and one steal in the win over Queens.
