UDC Women’s Lacrosse Loses to STAC in Season Finale

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team was defeated, 18-3 vs. East Coast Conference foe St. Thomas Aquinas in its 2015 season finale on a beautiful Sunday evening at Georgetown Multi-Sport Field.

The Firebirds (0-12, 0-8 ECC) honored their lone graduating senior, Lana Oudat before the game for her dedication to the program and her outstanding work on the field and in the classroom. In her final collegiate game, Oudat registered one shot on goal and two draw controls.

Attack Jazmin Lopez led the Firebirds offensively as she tied her season-high of two goals, both in the 2nd half.  Lopez finished 2nd on the team in scoring this season with eight points on seven goals and one assist. Freshman defender Aaliyah Carter added her 2nd goal of the year as well.

The Spartans improved to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in league play as they will be a No. 3 seed in the upcoming ECC Championship Tournament. They were led by Courney McGrath's seven points on three goals and four assists. Caroline Finnen led all scorers with four goals and Samantha Lowney added three as well.

STAC scored six goals in the first 10 minutes of regulation and would end up taking a 14-0 halftime lead after out-shooting UDC 27-1 and winning 14-of-15 ground balls.

The Spartans would then cruise to victory as they out-scored UDC 4-3 in the second half and won by a lopsided 15-goal margin of victory.
