WASHINGTON, D.C- The University of the District of Columbia's women's lacrosse team put up a good fight against Division I, Howard University but eventually fell 14-8, Friday afternoon at the Greene Stadium.

Victoria Majano and Joi Scruggs each had two goals with Majano also posting the lone assist for the Firebirds. Zuleima Ulloa-Santos had a game high nine saves.

The Home team came out blazing scoring eight of their 14 points in the first quarter. Despite having only 13 players, UDC still managed to hold their own having their best quarter in the fourth outscoring HU 4-0.

UDC (0-1, 0-0 ECC) is back in action on Sunday as they travel to the USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, MD to face off against Felician. The tip-off time is set for 11:00 am.
