WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's women's lacrosse team suffered a tough 17-7 loss to Post University in their season opener, Tuesday afternoon. The Firebirds fell to 0-3 on the season while the Eagles improved to 1-1.
Freshman attackman Anna Schamens registered another hat trick leading the Firebirds offensively with three goals and an assist. Lauryn Lopez also added two goals, and Alejandra Lainez-Rodriguez and Michelle Mitchell added a goal.
The Firebirds came out blazing scoring five of their seven goals in the first quarter and leading the Eagles 5-2 going into the second quarter. Post would then go on an 11-1 running putting the game out of reach and winning 17-7.
UDC (0-3, 0-0 ECC) will head to Philadelphia on the 28th to face off against Chestnut Hill with a tip-off time of 12:00 pm.
