AMHERST, N.Y. – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team fell to Daemen University, 25–3, on Saturday afternoon in East Coast Conference action.
Daemen jumped out to a fast start, scoring nine goals in the opening quarter and carrying the momentum into halftime with a 14–2 lead.
The Firebirds got on the board early in the first quarter as Jada Williams scored UDC's opening goal. Keliah Tucker added a goal late in the second quarter to keep the Firebirds within striking distance heading into halftime.
In the fourth quarter, Aliyah Bailey converted on a free-position opportunity to account for UDC's final goal of the contest.
Williams led the Firebirds offensively with a team-high five shots, while Tucker and Bailey each added a goal.
Defensively, goalkeeper Natalia Perkins recorded 12 saves while facing a high volume of shots from the Daemen attack.
The Firebirds return home on Thursday for an East Coast Conference matchup against Roberts Wesleyan. Opening draw is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
