Firebirds continue Winning Streak with 6-1 Victory over Shepherd

Shepherdstown, WV- The University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team soared to a 6-1 victory over Shepherd University to continue winning streak.

After a default victory in the first doubles match at No. 3, Marija Milic and Simoné Pärn put the Firebirds on the board shutting out Isabella Mascari and Ally Frushour 6-0 at No.1. The Freshmen duet of Izabella Bilecova and Sofia Bellucco would later secure the doubles point with a 6-1 victory at No.2.

Pärn led the Firebirds at No.1 in singles play to shut out her opponent 6-0, 6-0. She was then followed by doubles partner Milic who went 6-1, 6-4.  Belluco moved up to the No.3 singles spot to shut out her opponent 6-0 in the first round and 6-2 in the second round to secure victory for her team.

Two-time Rookie of the week Bilecova and teammate Estefania Castrillon went on to defeat their opponents 6-0, 6-1 at No.4 and 6-2, 6-0 at No.5

This 6-1 victory over Shephard University brings the Firebirds to a 7-0, 3-0 record on the season. Next up the Firebirds face off against Stonehill College on October 11that 11:00am.
