Firebirds Secure Championship bid with 4th Conference Win

Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's Women's tennis team defeated Molloy College to earn their fourth conference win and secure bid to ECC championships.

The Firebirds (10-0, 4-0 ECC) is currently tied with Queens College with four wins in the conference. The two top teams will face off against each other in their regular season finale on Monday October 21st at 12:00PM. The outcome of Monday's game will decide the No. 1 and 2 seeds going into the post season.

UDC swept Molloy in doubles claiming wins at No. 1, 2 and 3. Izabella Bilecova swept her match at No. 4 defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-0. She was followed up by teammate Estefania Castrillon who won her match at No.5 against Briana Gonzalez 6-0, 6-1. The last two wins for the Firebirds came from Simoné Pärn and Joanna Skrzypczynska at No.1 and 2.

The Firebirds defeated the Lions 5-2. Their match against Queens will also be in celebration of Seniors Marija Milic and Estefania Castrillon.
