Simoné Pärn, Mariona Franco and Zicheng Zeng Featured in the NCAA DII ITA Rankings
WASHINGTON, DC- Simoné Pärn, Mariona Franco, and Zicheng Zeng were featured in the regional rankings as was announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on November 23rd.
Pärn was ranked second in the region and 30th in the Nation in singles. She went 10-1 in singles play at the No. 1 position for the Fall season and led the Firebirds to an ECC Championship title, clinching the winning point against Queens College in the Finals while also avenging a regular-season loss to the No. 6 ranked Maja Makal.
Franco was ranked 19th in singles play and finished the season with a 10-1 record at the No.2 singles spot. She went undefeated during the regular season taking her only singles loss in the ECC Championship Finals to the #9 ranked Nathalie Ulander in a tough three-set battle.
Zeng claimed the #4 spot in the regional rankings. He made it to the semifinals of the ITA East Regional Championships at went 7-1 in singles play at the No.1 spot.
Both teams are back in action in the Spring, with the women's team having an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
