MATCH DAY PREVIEW: WOMEN'S TENNIS 10/21

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team hosts St Thomas Aquinas in important conference match up.

Scouting UDC Women's Tennis 

• The Firebirds are 5-1, 3-0 ECC on the season.
• Simoné Pärn and Célia Bastin were named ECC Player and Rookie of the week after defeating Daemen and D'Youville last weekend.
• UDC was voted to finish first in the conference preseason poll.
• The Firebirds return 6 players from the 2021-22 season, including three First-Team All-Conference picks (Parn, Sofia Bellucco and Mariona Franco), and a Rookie of the Year (Valentina Brienza)
• UDC Women's Tennis finished the 2021-22 season with a 15-3 overall record. They won the ECC Championship in the Fall of 2021 and was the second seed in the NCAA East Regional Tournament in the spring. 

Scouting STAC Women's Tennis

• The Spartans are undefeated on the season with a  7-0, 4-0 ECC record
• Freshman Amaia Balaguer made it to the ITA East Regional Tournament finals.
• STAC was voted to finish second in the Conference preseason Poll
• STAC finihsed last season with a 19-3 overall record and made it to the NCAA East Regional tournament.

History

The last time these two teams met was on September 24th, 2021,  where the Firebirds defeated the Spartans 5-2. The Firebirds have won the last three out of four match ups against the Spartans.
