Zelentsova Ranked No. 3 in the East Region; Bastin No. 18 as Firebirds Earn Multiple ITA Honors
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis program earned multiple regional distinctions as the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II rankings were announced this week.
Zelentsova was named the No. 3 singles player in the East Region, following a dominant fall season that featured a series of ranked victories and a 7-2 mark in singles play. In doubles, Zelentsova and partner Celia Bastin were ranked No. 4 in the East Region after going 7-2.
Bastin also earned an individual singles distinction, coming in at No. 18 in the East Region. Her fall campaign featured a 5–3 singles record at the No. 2 position, highlighted by multiple hard-fought three-set battles.
