Shaparenko Secures Singles Victory as Firebirds Fall to #21 Adelphi
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team fell to #21 Adelphi University, 6–1, in regional action.

In singles play, Sofiia Shaparenko recorded the lone victory for the Firebirds with a dominant performance at No. 4 singles. Shaparenko defeated Adelphi's Oda Solevag Halvorsen in straight sets, 6–2, 6–0, to give UDC its point of the match.
Polina Zelentsova battled in a tightly contested match at No. 1 singles, winning the opening set 6–3 before Adelphi's Katarina Liedbeck rallied to take the second set 6–4. The match was ultimately decided in a 10-point tiebreak.
Elsewhere in the lineup, Adelphi earned singles victories at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 positions to secure the overall match win.
