District of Columbia Women's Indoor Track and Field Ties for Top Spot in ECC Preseason Poll
Washington, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia Women's Indoor Track and Field team has claimed the top spot in the 2024-25 East Coast Conference (ECC) Preseason Poll, sharing the honor with Felician University. Both teams earned 109 points in the voting, with UDC securing four first-place votes.
Junior standout Kayla Cooper has been named ECC Preseason Co-Athlete of the Year alongside Felician's Chantoya Thomas. At last year's ECC Indoor Championship Cooper finished with 30 points, winning the 200m, placing second in the 60m and the 4x400m relay and fourth in the long jump.
The Firebirds will open their season this Saturday at the TCNJ Season Opener in New York, N.Y.
