WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following a standout performance at the TCNJ Indoor Season Opener, the University of the District of Columbia women's track & field program collected major early-season recognition as sophomore sprinter/hurdler Kyndra Hines was named East Coast Conference (ECC) Track Athlete of the Week, while Zoe Shaw, Samantha Morrison, and Emmanuela Katou Kouami each secured spots on the conference Weekly Honor Roll.
Hines opened her sophomore campaign with a dominant showing across multiple events, highlighted by a national provisional qualifying mark and new school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.66 seconds—currently the fastest in the ECC and second-fastest in the East Region. She also placed second overall in the 60m, running the fastest time in prelims (7.73s), which also ranks No. 1 in the conference and No. 2 in the region.
Shaw opened her season with top-tier marks in multiple field events, earning first place in the triple jump (11.05m)—good for 5th in the East Region. She added strong podium finishes in high jump (3rd, 1.63m), which leads both the ECC and East Region, and in the long jump (3rd, 5.41m), ranking Top-4 regionally.
Morrison broke her own school record in the 1000m, placing 3rd overall in 3:02.42, the top mark in the ECC this season. She also anchored UDC's A-relay to a third-place finish in the 4x400m with a conference-leading and regional-leading time of 4:03.35.
Katou Kouami added another event win for the Firebirds, claiming the women's weight throw with an ECC-best mark of 16.42m, currently ranked third in the East Region and a strong early push toward postseason qualification.
