Kyndra Hines Named ECC Track Athlete of the Year
WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of the District of Columbia sophomore Kyndra Hines has been named the East Coast Conference Track Athlete of the Year following a historic indoor season.
Hines delivered one of the most dominant performances in program history, establishing herself as one of the top sprinters and hurdlers in NCAA Division II. She captured ECC titles in both the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles, showcasing her versatility and elite speed on the conference stage.
In the hurdles, Hines broke both the ECC Championship record and UDC school record with a time of 8.52 seconds, a mark that ranked among the top times in the nation and secured her qualification for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. She went on to compete at nationals, finishing 12th among the top athletes in the country nd earning All-America honors.
Hines also posted a personal-best time of 7.65 seconds in the 60-meter dash, the fastest time in the East Region this season, further cementing her status as the region's top track athlete.
Her standout performances throughout the year have earned her multiple accolades, including USTFCCCA East Region Track Athlete of the Year, further highlighting her impact on the track.
Hines' Track Athlete of the Year honor marks another milestone for the Firebirds program as UDC continues to rise on the conference, regional, and national stage.
The Firebirds now turn their focus to the outdoor season, where Hines will look to build on her momentum and continue her success.
