Hines Named ECC Outdoor Athlete of the Meet; Grant Earns Coach of the Year as Firebirds Capture Third Straight Title

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia women's track & field team continued its dominance at the East Coast Conference Outdoor Championships, as Kyndra Hines was named ECC Outdoor Athlete of the Meet and Sime Grant was named ECC Outdoor Coach of the Year following the Firebirds' third consecutive conference title.

Hines delivered a historic performance, leading the Firebirds with a sweep of three individual gold medals. The sophomore captured first place in the 100m, 100m hurdles, and 200m, showcasing her versatility and speed across sprint and hurdle events. She also contributed to a second-place finish in the 4x100m relay, playing a key role in the Firebirds' overall team success.

Her dominant showing across multiple events solidified her as the top performer of the championship meet and one of the premier athletes in the conference.

Head coach Sime Grant was recognized as ECC Outdoor Coach of the Year after guiding UDC to its third consecutive outdoor conference championship, continuing the program's sustained excellence. Under Grant's leadership, the Firebirds once again demonstrated depth and dominance across events, securing the team title and reinforcing their position at the top of the conference.
