WASHINGTON, DC – Fifth-year head coach Alton McKenzie announced the University of the District of Columbia 2015 women's cross country schedule on Monday, August 3rd. The Firebirds are slated to compete in five invitational meets and the East Coast Conference Championship meet on October 24th in Brookville, NY.
District of Columbia will open the season on September 5th at the "Lid Lifter" 5K race hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, MD. The following week, the Firebirds will visit Smyrna, DE for the first of three meets hosted by Delaware State. September 12th, they will compete in the DSU Hornet Invitational.
On September 19th, UDC will again visit Princess Anne, MD for the Cappy Anderson Invitational. The Firebirds will then have a week off before they compete at the DSU Farm Run Invitational on October 3rd. The final tune-up before the ECC Championships is the DSU Cross Country Invitational on October 17th.
The Firebirds will conclude the regular season at the ECC Championships, where last year they beat out Dowling to place 8th of 9 teams with a team score of 228 and a total team time of 2:02:08.9 (24:25.8 average).
Should any runners qualify, the NCAA East Regional will take place on November 8th in Hopkinton, NH and the NCAA Championships are on November 21st in Joplin, MO.
