Firebirds Close Out Season at ECC Cross Country Championships

KINGS PARK, N.Y.-The University of the District of Columbia women's cross country team wrapped up its 2025 season at the East Coast Conference Championships on Saturday morning, competing against a strong field of conference opponents hosted by Queens College.

Samantha Morrison led the Firebirds with an impressive run, finishing 26th overall with a PR time of 21:27.8 in the 5K. Right behind her was freshman Aksa Jepkogei, who placed 31st (22:10.6), while Tukey Francis crossed in 44th (24:29.6). Yalix Lina finished 46th (25:00.9), and Janel Baxter rounded out UDC's scoring five in 49th (26:41.7).

The Firebirds conclude the fall portion of their schedule and will now shift gears to indoor track & field, opening competition on December 6th at the TCNJ Indoor Opener in New York, N.Y.
