Spence Scores Career-High 25 as Firebirds Fall to D’Youville
Washington, D.C. — The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team dropped a 76–67 decision to D'Youville on Sunday afternoon in East Coast Conference action at home. The loss allowed D'Youville to sweep the season series over the Firebirds.
UDC trailed by just one point at halftime, 34–33, but D'Youville used a strong second half to pull away, outscoring the Firebirds 42–34 over the final 20 minutes.
Oliver Spence delivered a standout performance for UDC, pouring in a career-high 25 points on an efficient 11-of-15 shooting from the field. Spence also added four rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal, leading all scorers in the contest.
Rejuan Gray added 17 points, shooting 8-of-14 from the floor, while contributing four rebounds and four assists. Arthur Roache finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists, and Michael Harrell chipped in seven points and a team-high nine rebounds.
As a team, the Firebirds shot 51.9 percent from the field, but were limited to 3-of-14 from three-point range. UDC finished with 29 rebounds, 22 assists, and forced 15 turnovers in the effort.
D'Youville was led by Maxence Massadila's 16 points, while Nathan Andrice added 13 points off the bench as the Saints shot 50.9 percent from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers.
UDC will look to bounce back on Wednesday, hosting Molloy University in continued East Coast Conference action.
